The Department of Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) seeks a Biosafety Specialist II to join the Biosafety & Biosecurity team which oversees all Stanford University work with biohazardous materials and/or recombinant DNA and synthetic nucleic acids. With limited supervision you will ensure the safe use of campus biological agents, recombinant DNA and biohazards in accordance with Cal OSHA, NIH Guidelines and other applicable regulations. The Biosafety Specialist (BSP) will proactively ensure the minimization of risk related to non-compliance with regulations and policies governing the conduct of biomedical research. This position will provide support to other laboratory safety programs across the university to promote the safety of faculty, staff and students. Working with other members of the Biosafety team you will review Clinical Gene Transfer trials using recombinant nucleic acids or infectious agents in preparation for the Administrative Panel on Biosafety, including communication with the Stanford University IRB as needed.

Bachelor’s degree in arts/science in related allied/scientific field and three years progressively responsible experience in occupational safety and health, emergency response/management, environmental science, and/or allied/scientific field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
The expected pay range for this position is $116,115 to $125,000 per annum.
