A leading biopharmaceutical company is seeking an EHS leader with subject matter expertise in biosafety and industrial hygiene to lead key EH&S initiatives at its location in Thousand Oaks, CA. This is a highly collaborative role suited for someone confident in managing complex chemical and biological safety programs, and who thrives in influencing across a matrixed organization. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, technical expertise, and the ability to assess risk and implement scalable EHS programs in a dynamic, science-driven environment.

 

The Role:

  • Serve as the Biological Safety Officer and lead the Industrial Hygiene program at the company’s Thousand Oaks location.
  • Lead and continuously improve site safety programs with an emphasis on biological safety, potent compounds, and chemical exposure evaluations, including antibody drug conjugates (ADCs).
  • Conduct technical risk assessments and quantitative IH evaluations involving active sampling techniques.
  • Develop and implement training programs to ensure compliance and awareness across R&D and clinical manufacturing functions.
  • Interpret federal, state, and local EHS regulations and translate them into actionable site-level strategies and programs.
  • Foster collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners to promote a culture of safety and partnership.

 

The Candidate:

  • A related bachelor’s degree in industrial hygiene, environmental health, safety, or a related technical/scientific field is required.
  • Depending on educational level, 5–10+ years of EHS experience, with a specific focus in both Biological Safety and Industrial Hygiene.
  • Experience in the biotech, pharmaceutical, and/or academic research sectors is required.
  • Demonstrated expertise in chemical safety, potent compound safety, respiratory protection, noise monitoring, and biological agent risk assessment.
  • Proven ability to work independently as a strategic partner with R&D and lab-based teams.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence across all levels of the organization.
  • Familiarity with OSHA, Cal/OSHA, EPA, NIH guidelines, and other applicable standards.
  • CIH or CSP preferred.
